The Wiggan & Elliott breech-loader is one of many actions that tried different methods of bolting the barrels to the action when the concept was novel.
Here we see a gun made on the 1863 Elliott patent (No.1782) in action. The gun is a 12-bore by Wiggan & Elliott and the cartridges are Hull CompX 21g lead loads with fibre wad. For a detailled article on this gun, see VGJ article, 'Old Barrels, Older Action'.
