Hollt's hold an unusual on-line auction this month, with a large collection of walnut gunstock blanks for sale.
They come from a smokers requisites manufacturing company, which ceased trading and had their stocks of walnut cut into gunstock blanks for shotguns and rifles. The catalogue is on-line now and features several lots of five blanks and some single blanks, with grades from exhibition to workaday.
Of course, blank buying is a tricky business, with a lot of wood today being kiln dried and brittle. Serious buyers would be well advised to visit Holt's in Norfolk to view the wood in-situ before bidding.
